IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) is a new feature designed to help you get your desired test score without retaking the full test. If you want to improve your score on one test skill, you can retake any of the four IELTS skills – Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking.
IELTS One Skill Retake Canada is available with the British Council at selected test centres.
Please be aware that as of now, the IRCC has not officially accepted the new IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR).
Focus on one skill:
If you didn’t do your best in your first test, IELTS One Skill Retake Canada gives you a second chance to demonstrate your English level and improve your score in one section without retaking the full test. You can save time and money by retaking only one skill instead of all four again.
Take the test you know:
IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) follows the same format and timing as the regular IELTS test. This means you will already be familiar with the test. You don´t need to worry about preparing a new exam.
Receive a new Test Report Form:
You will receive a new IELTS Test Report Form with your IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) score. It also includes the scores from your original test and an overall Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) score. Your results will be valid for two years from the original test date, which you can find on your Test Report Form.
Your original test scores will remain the same:
There will be no change to your other scores from your original test. And once you’ve received your results, if you would prefer to use your original score, you can.
Please be aware that as of now, the IRCC has not officially accepted the new IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR). It is advisable to verify with your Recognising Organisation (RO) whether they currently acknowledge this new One Skill Retake (OSR).

You can cancel your IELTS OSR test at any time before taking your test by notifying your Test Centre. Please follow the below mentioned deadlines for refund requests.
Refund terms depend on when you cancel and whether exceptional circumstances and Special Considerations apply.
No refund is provided if the IELTS One Skill Retake Canada result is not recognised by any given institution, organisation, or government body. Please make sure to check if your Recognising Organisation accepts OSR before registering.
